Basin Gulch historical drilling results

Basin Gulch has more than 320 historical drill holes, and its best published intercept by grade is 156 g/t gold over 3 meters.

Lannister Mining publishes five highlight drill intercepts and four trench highlights for the Basin Gulch Property. Three intercepts start at surface, including 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters, and the longest runs 326 meters at 0.66 g/t Au. These historical results are the base for planned confirmation drilling and a future maiden resource estimate.

What are the best Basin Gulch drill results?

By grade alone, the best result is 156 g/t Au over 3 meters. By length, it is 0.66 g/t Au over 326 meters from surface. By grade multiplied by length, which weighs both, the order is shown in the ranked list below.

Definition

What is a drill intercept?

A drill intercept is a continuous length of a drill hole that returned mineralized rock, reported as an average grade over a length. At Basin Gulch, Lannister Mining reports intercepts in grams of gold per tonne (g/t Au) over meters, with feet given alongside.

"From surface" means the interval begins at the top of the hole. Grade-thickness is the grade multiplied by the length, in gram-meters per tonne. It is a common, simple way to compare a short high-grade interval with a long moderate-grade one on one scale. It is not a resource figure and does not account for true width.

Basin Gulch drill intercepts, ranked by grade-thickness

Published by Lannister Mining.

Every intercept is judged on the same criterion: gold grade multiplied by interval length. The numbers are exactly as published; only the multiplication is ours.

  1. 1

    156 g/t Au over 3 m (9.8 ft)

The highest grade of any published Basin Gulch intercept, over a short 3-meter interval.

    468gram-meters per tonne

  2. 2

    25 g/t Au over 14 m (45.9 ft)

The second highest published grade, held over a 14-meter interval.

    350gram-meters per tonne

  3. 3

    1.8 g/t Au over 162 m (531.5 ft), from surface

Moderate grade sustained over 162 meters, starting at surface.

  4. 4

    3.2 g/t Au over 72 m (236.2 ft), from surface

Higher grade than the two longer intercepts, over 72 meters from surface.

    230.4gram-meters per tonne

  5. 5

    0.66 g/t Au over 326 m (1,069.6 ft), from surface

The longest published intercept, 326 meters from surface, at the lowest grade of the five.

Basin Gulch trench highlights

Trenches expose bedrock at surface so it can be sampled along a line. Lannister Mining publishes four trench highlights at Basin Gulch, each reporting both gold and silver. Together they show gold-silver mineralization exposed over long horizontal distances at surface, which matches the near-surface character seen in the drilling.

    over 159 meters (521.7 feet)

  • 4 g/t Au and 23 g/t Ag

  • 25 g/t Au and 45 g/t Ag

    over 61 meters (200.1 feet)

How we chose this order

This ranking was written by Lannister Mining, which publishes this site and explores Basin Gulch. The only criterion is grade-thickness: gold grade times interval length, using the published figures unchanged. It favors neither short high-grade nor long low-grade results. It does not reflect true width, silver, recoveries or economics. See our methodology and the source figures on the Lannister Mining property page.

Common questions about Basin Gulch

See all 46 questions

How many holes have been drilled at Basin Gulch?

More than 320 historical drill holes have been completed on the Basin Gulch Property, according to Lannister Mining. Those holes, along with surface trenches, produced the highlight intercepts the company publishes, including 0.66 g/t Au over 326 meters from surface. The company plans to use this historical drilling, together with new work, in a future maiden mineral resource estimate.

What does g/t Au mean in drill results?

g/t Au means grams of gold per tonne of rock. One gram per tonne equals one part per million. A result such as 3.2 g/t Au over 72 meters means a drill hole intersected 72 meters of rock averaging 3.2 grams of gold per tonne. Grade is read together with length because thick moderate-grade zones can matter as much as short high-grade ones.

Why does "from surface" matter in drill results?

From surface means the mineralized interval starts at the top of the hole, with no barren rock above it. In general, mineralization that begins at surface can reduce the waste rock that must be moved in an open pit design. Three of the five Basin Gulch highlight drill intercepts Lannister Mining publishes are reported from surface, including 162 meters at 1.8 g/t Au.

What are the Basin Gulch trench results?

Lannister Mining reports four trench highlights at Basin Gulch: 62 g/t Au and 32 g/t Ag over 159 meters, 4 g/t Au and 23 g/t Ag over 146 meters, 5 g/t Au and 54 g/t Ag over 34 meters, and 25 g/t Au and 45 g/t Ag over 61 meters. Trenches expose and sample rock at surface, so they test near-surface mineralization directly.

What is the difference between a trench and a drill hole?

A trench is a shallow excavation that exposes bedrock at surface so it can be mapped and sampled along its length. A drill hole bores into the ground, often hundreds of meters, and returns core or chips for assay. Trenches show what is at surface over a long horizontal distance; drill holes show how mineralization continues at depth.

Can historical drill results be relied on?

Historical drill results are useful exploration data, but they generally need confirmation before they support a current mineral resource estimate. Lannister Mining plans confirmation drilling of historical drill intercepts at Basin Gulch for that reason. Investors should read the company investor presentation and technical disclosures on lannistermining.com for the details behind each result.
